Daykeyne Kennels was established in 1972 with English Cocker Spaniels and Irish Setters. After only ten years we moved to the city and with restrictions on the number of dogs we could have, we decided to stop breeding the Irish Setters and focus on the English Cocker Spaniels which we still have today.
In 1990 after being involved in showing other people Pointers for quite a few years I was given for my sixteenth birthday a beautiful black & white Pointer bitch from Willopoint Kennels in Adelaide of Mr & Mrs Barton. This bitch turned out to be Australians first Grand Champion Pointer: - Aust Grd Ch Willopoint T Hell N Back (Fate) one of the top winning bitches of her time with many Best in Group and in Show awards and Royal BOB to her name.
Shortly after receiving Fate she came down with the Parvovirus where we nearly lost her but she is a fighter and she came back to us. Hence her name T Hell N Back it was just Fate.
Fate was a true showdog never letting me down. She excelled at the big shows where she loved the crowds and the applause. It was a thrill to show this beautiful girl. She has truly earned a place in our hearts and will always be my once in a life time girl. We had to make the hardest decision in January 2001 and let her go and that has left a big hole here at Daykeyne Kennels.
After five years of showing I eventually found the right dog for Fate NZ Grd CH & Aust Ch Tukeglen Jackaroo Imp NZ (Floyd) from this mating we ended up with seven champions 4 dogs 3 bitches of all colours. All being multi BOB, in group and in show winners with three being Best in Show winners including Aust youngest Grand Ch Daykeyne Living Legend (Spy). Fate only had one other litter and from this we have Aust Ch Daykeyne Twist of Fate (Twister) who at 16 months is also a Runner-up Best Exhibit in show winner.
Fate is the strength that Daykeyne Pointers started from and because of this foundation we will continue to produce top quality Pointers. Fate’s daughter Aust Ch Daykeyne Show Stopper (Lyte) will always hold a part of my heart she gave me two very special girls but before she could see them grow up she was taken away from us with Leukemia. Lyte’s two special girls Aust Ch Daykeyne Sudden Impact (Ash) and Aust Ch Daykeyne Shameless (Ice) 14mths and already Multi in show winners are a tribute to their mum.
At Daykeyne Kennels we have few new kids on the block from two other Fate daughters. Aust Ch Daykeyne Flaunting It (Squirt) & Aust Ch Daykeyne Taylor Made ET (Taylor) these girls have produced Daykeyne Marked By Destiny (Piper) and Daykeyne Kausin Chaos (Bizi) both are already in show winners and showing all the attributes needed to follow in the footsteps of the other Champions of Daykeyne.

The People who make up Daykeyne
There are two faces behind Daykeyne - firstly there is Linda Buckley the Founder of Daykeyne Kennels in 1972. Under the Daykeyne Prefix Linda has bred and shown many BIS winning English Cockers. Her talents as a breeder are not restricted to one colour; Linda breeds Parti colours as well as solids and gets the best of both in her gorgeous merry dogs. Well known for not letting a challenge pass Linda has titled dogs (always owner handled) of all colours including orange roan, tri-colours as well as black and tan, though today her kennel is predominantly blue roan and black. Linda can always look through a rare colour to see a good Cocker.
Linda is also a very well respected Judge having judged extensively within Australia and overseas. She has judged at the NSW Cocker Spaniel Club as well as the contest of cockers. Linda is an All Breeds Judge at championship level. Linda has held the Position of President of the Cocker Spaniel Club of the ACT. As well as many committee positions on other clubs, her hard work and effort have made her an asset of any club she chooses to help.
As well as being a breeder of great English Cockers Linda also has three daughters all of which are involved in dogs. All of her daughters have represented their state in the Junior Handlers final with Tabatha representing Australia at the international final where she finished third in the world. Her eldest Melanie owns American Cockers and a German shorthaired Pointer. Melanie started showing American Cockers for her Grandmother Sylvia of Roanbrae Kennels when she was very young owning dogs in partnership. She now breeds under her own prefix Descarte working together with her Grandmother to produce some beautiful American Cockers. Linda’s youngest daughter Jessica owns Greyhounds, Bearded Collies and a Wirehaired Fox Terrier.
The next member of Daykeyne is Tabatha Linda’s middle daughter. Tabatha has always been involved with dogs, she first showed a dog at the tender age of two, a baby corgi in the child handlers which she won even with the lead between her teeth and has never looked back since. She has interest in all breeds of dogs having handled many different breeds to major wins. In 1990 Tabatha joined her mother under the Daykeyne prefix bringing with her the Pointers. With her strong will and determination Tabatha has made a name for herself and the breed she has fallen in love with. Not content with this Tabatha decided to add the title of Judge to her name she holds a licence to judge Gundogs (Sporting) and Toys at Championship level and Utility (Working) at Championship Show level. Tabatha is a well-respected judge who has judged through out Australia and New Zealand.
Tabatha also co-owned and handled Cavalier King Charles Spaniels from the world famous LeChevalier Kennel including Aust Grd Ch & Eng Ch Loranka Dream Lover at LeChevalier (Imp UK) Hamish. The first year that Hamish arrived in Australia he and Tabatha formed an unbeatable team making him the number 1 dog all breeds in Australia for 98. With over 50 Best in Shows Hamish still remains the top Cavalier of all time and has made many fans on the way.
